THE SOUND HORSE ORGANIZATION, founded in 1997, was formed to EDUCATE Horse Owners, Promote the Sound Horse and END THE ABUSE of the Gaited Show Horses. SHO has gone much further than the original mandate, however, bringing ALL horses and some other "causes" under our umbrella of HOPE!

In just the last 12 months (5/01-4/02) SHO has contributed funds to the following Organizations: ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) HSUS (Humane Society of the United States), St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary, Interlaken Animal Clinic, NCERL (North Carolina Equine Rescue League), AHDF (American Horse Defense Fund), Cause for Paws, S.C. 4-H Program, Defenders of Wildlife, Horse Protection Assn., F.A.S.H., I.F.A.W. (International Fund for Animal Welfare), FOSH (Friends of the Sound Horse) Horse Protection Assn of SC., ETC.

SHO has supported the following Sound Horse Shows:

UPPHA in MO., North American in Denver, Quad Cities Walking Horse Club, VA.Plantation Classic, TN. Liteshod Classic, ETI Convention, Gaitway Fall Classic, Royal Midwest Classic, SHOUT show in UT, The Firecracker Jubilee
in NC, The Little Celebration in MI, 4-H Club Show in SC, TarHeel Classic in NC, TX Spring Classic, Federation of the American Show Horse in CA, NPWHA show in CA. ETC.

SHO has rescued 14 horses and 3 donkeys and placed them in Caring Homes! SHO has paid their Vet Bills, their Transport and their Care. AGED and not wanted any longer and/or headed to Slaughter-6, BLIND-2 (one from the trauma
of BIG LICK training!), STARVED and uncared for-6 (The donkeys fall into this category!)

SHO has contributed to the cause of the Defeat of Soring and Abuse of Gaited Horses though Advertising! SHO also sponsors booths at Shows, Fairs and Expos to get our message of HOPE for the Horses out to the Public!

WHERE does all this money come from?

Mainly from the SHO Annual Auction-where ALL items are "donated". Cash Donations- Even a $1.00 is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

The SOUND HORSE ORGANIZATION has NO "Paid Employees"! ALL finances go to the Promotion, Support, Rescue and Care of the SOUND HORSE. The WORK of SHO does not begin nor end with "Finances". Our members write letters, e-mails,
faxes to Senators, Congresspeople, Publications, TV and Radio Stations, etc. to Strengthen Animal Welfare Reform. They gather, store and SHARE information regarding Soring and Abuse with ALL others who have the best interest of the Horse at heart. SHO was the FIRST to publish the TWHBEA
b-pac info and the HIO Violations Lists on an "easy access" website!
